The purpose of this assignment is deepening your understanding of fact-checking processes. For this assignment, you have to choose a fact-checker site or organization and analyze and reflect on the processes. You may choose one of the following sites, or another of your choosing with the instructor’s approval: AP Fact Check, The Washington Post Fact Checker, PolitiFact, AFP FactCheck, Snopes.
The main text of your paper should be in three sections, as detailed below:
1.   Identify: Choose among the fact-checker sites or organizations that we have reviewed or the one that you follow independently. Please include at least three examples of fact-checked stories the site has published, with links, that back up your choice.
2.   Analyze: Present a critical review of the fact-checking processes for the site or organization that you have chosen. How do they fact check claims? How do they communicate their fact-checking process and rating system to their audience? How thorough is the evidence they present to their audience?

3.   Summarize:  Reflect on the overall fact-checking processes and outline your thoughts on the usefulness of the site or organization in debunking Internet rumors, misinformation and fake news. Do you find this style of journalism to be more, less or equally as effective as more traditional news articles? What impact do you think this site and its approach has on public trust?
The main text of the paper should be no less than TWO and not more than THREE double-spaced pages.  You will want to draw on material learned in our lectures and reading as part of your analysis and summary.
Your assignment should include the following:
1.   Title page (no abstract necessary)
2.   Your 2-3 double-spaced pages of main text
3.   Links to digital media sites and examples
Submission: Submit your assignment via Canvas prior to the start of class on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Late assignments will be subject to the late policy in the course syllabus.

Miranda warnings are not required when border agents question aliens seeking admission into this country. Even if aliens being questioned at a border about their admission into this country are in “custody,” most courts have held that official, routine questioning of the alien does not require a Miranda warning, even if that questioning results in incriminating statements from the alien. State your position as to whether Miranda warnings should be required and why.
Post your position by Wednesday at 11:45 pm. Respond to at least two other students’ postings no later than Sunday at 11:45 pm. Your responses must be substantive addressing whether or not you agree with each student’s position and why.

· Based on your reading of the Achebe book, answer the following in a well-organized, formal, argumentative/persuasive essay. What things fell apart? How and why did they fall apart? What happens when two cultures come into contact? Suggested length: 4-6 double-spaced pages.
Things fall apart can be downloaded online.
· Go to this website https://www.loc.gov/collections/chronicling-america/
Find a newspaper article about WWI. It needs to be from 1914-1919. Summarize it. What does it tell us about the causes of the war? Are there any fears about the conflict? How does the article talk about the different sides of the conflict? Is there any bias? What stands out to you? Be sure that your article contains enough information to really analyze it. A short blurb will not work. You must include a working link, otherwise I will not accept it. I will award up to 10 points, depending on the quality of analysis and explanation given. These points will be added to the short essay 2 grade.

Python sales

Biggestsales.odt

One example program that we covered in class found the largest sales that we made during the current sales period. That program found the amount of the sale, but it did not tell us who made that big sale or on what date. So, alter the program so that it prints the name of the salesperson who made the biggest sale, the amount of that sale, and the date of the sale.
The spreadsheet of sales data is attached. Just submit your revision of my program.

Part A
Interview a teacher in the United States that taught school-age children pre-COVID-19, during the pandemic, and post-COVID-19.
Ask them:
1. What are the biggest differences that you noticed in your interactions with your students?
2. What are the biggest differences that you noticed in interactions between students?
3. What do you think have been the biggest challenges?
4. What are the lasting effects that you have noticed?
Create a short presentation (5–10 slides) to describe what you learned. You do NOT have to record any audio.
If you are unable to find a teacher to interview, you may use the following three links to find information (you will have to cite them):

Part B
After watching the two videos this week, pick one to discuss and answer the following questions:
Video #1:  Theory of Mind – Why is theory of mind an important development in young children?  How does understanding that other people have their own perspectives and their own ideas that may be different than their own, help children development not only cognitively, but socially and emotionally as well?   How is this important in the classroom?
OR
Video #2:  Autism – What did you think about the presenter’s ideas about autism?  Can you take her perspective and make it relevant to your work with young children?  What about her example of the shopping mall?  Can you think about that example and apply it to a child in a classroom?  Is it possible that we sometimes view children who are not typically developing as having deficits as well, especially when they are not thriving in the classroom?  How can we shift our thinking to better understand the children in our classrooms and find ways to better meet their needs?
